Photos: 2007 Geneva auto show preview

We are just about ready to hit the floor of the Palexpo-Geneva to get a look at all the new cars on exhibition. In anticipation of that, we've assembled a little slide show of some of the cars we expect to see.

Following in the footsteps of the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky, Dodge explores the idea of its own roadster. Although the Demon concept comes 18 years after the Mazda Miata, the success of the GM roadsters must have convinced Dodge that now the iron is truly hot enough to strike.

Design house Rinspeed joins the trend for transparent cars (and yes, it is a new trend), although the company takes it a little overboard with the Exasis. This inline two-seater is also fast, getting to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds on only 150 horsepower. Safety rating? What safety rating?

Although not imported to the United States, this upgrade to the Mazda2 demonstrates the next generation of Mazda's zoom-zoom design language. As such, it should provide clues to the future Mazda3 and Mazda6.

Yes, cars should be exactly like amusement park rides. Such must have been the theme when the Carver One was designed, as this three-wheeler tilts its entire cabin when cornering. Sure hope the cup holders are on gimbals.

KTM made quite a reputation with its motorcycles in the Paris-Dakar race, so the company ventured into go-karts. But this go-kart uses a 2-liter direct injection four-cylinder engine. Given this two-seater's obviously lightweight, it's going to fly.

Mazda's design group has been working overtime, with the Hakaze being the third concept the company has shown off this auto show season. Hakaze apparently means the wind produced by the movement of a bird's wings. Those Japanese have a word for everything. We just wish other design groups would work as hard, because it gives us more to write about.

Subaru explores the idea of a short-range electric city car with the R1e. It won't go more than 62 mph, but its lithium-ion battery pack can be recharged to 80 percent capacity in 15 minutes.
