The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 is a version of the SLS complying with GT3 racing regulations, and as such varies little from the production car on which it is based. It retains the 6.2-liter AMG V-8, but gets extra cooling vents for engine and wheels.

The SLS AMG GT3 sits lower than the production SLS AMG and gets a wider wheel base. It uses AMG racing brakes, but ceramic brakes are not available because they don't fit on the 18-inch wheels required by GT3 regulations.

An adjustable rear wing helps the SLS AMG GT3 keep grip at high speeds on the race track, and a rear diffuser funnels air from under the car. Because the SLS AMG GT3 is lighter than the production SLS AMG, it gets to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds.

The cabin of the SLS AMG GT3 is appropriately stripped for racing, with no passenger seat. The gas tank has also been enlarged to 31.7 gallons.

Though the profile of the SLS AMG remains the same as its racing counterpart, it is obviously higher up, designed to handle speed bumps and other pavement faults.

The cabin of the SLS AMG, designed for luxury, is much different, with comfortable leather seats and a Bang & Olufsen audio system.
