Vantage GT8 is one of Aston Martin's most hard-core road cars (pictures)

If you like road cars with a serious motorsport inspiration, you'll go gaga for the Aston Martin Vantage GT8.

The GT8 pulls its inspiration from Aston's V8 Vantage GTE racer.

The GT8 is powered by a 4.7-liter V-8, putting out around 440 horsepower.

It mates to the buyer's choice of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission.

The body is positively loaded with race-inspired aero, including a wider body featuring cutaways just behind the front wheels.

All in, Aston claims a 100-kilogram weight savings over the standard V8 Vantage.

The car features a lithium ion battery to help cut down on the curb weight.

Optional weight savings include a carbon fiber roof and polycarbonate rear and side windows.

The body features loads of carbon fiber, as well.

You can find the lightweight material in the front splitter, fenders, side sills, rear diffuser and both front and rear bumpers.

To retain a little bit of on-road sensibility, the car still comes with air conditioning, an audio system and Aston Martin's latest infotainment system.

We could stare at this thing all day.

Even the seats are built to keep weight down, featuring carbon fiber construction and manual controls.

Aston Martin is building just 150 of these, and pricing starts at £165,000 ($233,607, directly converted).
