2017 Chevrolet Sonic updates both style and substance (pictures)

Well, this is certainly a fresh face on Chevrolet's compact sedan/hatchback combo.

For 2017, both the front and rear have been updated to bring the Sonic's look in line with other new Chevrolet offerings, like the Bolt and the Cruze.

The 2017 Sonic promises two segment firsts -- a power driver's seat, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.

There's plenty of other technology on offer, as well, including a standard backup camera and a standard 7-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system.

If you like checking options boxes, you can pick up a heated steering wheel, rear parking sensors and a 4G LTE modem with Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity.

Two safety systems are on offer, as well -- forward collision warning and lane-departure warning.

Buyers can choose between two powertrain options -- a 1.8-liter four-cylinder, or a 1.4-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder.

The 1.4-liter motor has an available six-speed manual, if you're feeling sporty.
