2016 Ford Focus RS is the hyperhatch to beat (pictures)

This beauty is coming to America, a first for a Focus RS.

It's packing 345bhp and likes to use it.

RS stands for Rallye Sport. It used to go on rally cars.

Now it denotes the fastest, more hard-core road cars you can buy.

Ford says 0-62mph takes 4.7 seconds.

And if you're feeling brave and have space, it'll hit 165mph.

Its AWD setup is pretty cool -- it can move 70 percent of its torque to a single rear wheel.

Corners are where the RS shines.

The RS has a multimode selector, which means you can change the car's character pretty easily.

There's a lot of standard Focus here, but the RS' wheel is grippy and the gearshift is right where you need it.

Fit and finish give away a bit to the VW Golf R, but it's still a pretty nice place to be inside.

Grippy sport seats have racing belt pass-throughs.

And...drift it. In fact, there's a drift mode specifically for sideways fun.

This is what you have to look forward to filling up your rearview mirror, WRX and Golf R drivers.

Looks good at rest, more entertaining in motion.
