Hyundai pulls the wraps off of its new 2012 Azera large sedan at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. To my eye, the newest Hyundai looks quite a bit like the new Toyota Camry.
LED halos around the headlamp projectors and an LED eyebrow give the impression that Hyundai is also aping BMW and Audi with its new large sedan.
Hyundai calls this its "most dramatic example yet" of its Fluidic Sculpture design language, which is odd in the wake of vehicles like the Veloster and new Genesis Coupe.
Power comes from a 3.3-liter GDI V-6 engine that outputs 293 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy is rated at 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
From afar, the Azera does do a good job of hiding its mass and looking like a smaller car.
Inside, the Azera will be available with Hyundai's full suite of infotainment technologies, including Bluetooth hands-free calling and audio streaming, iPod and USB connectivity, and the Blue Link telematics platform.
The Azera features standard leather trim with heated front and rear seats. Ventilation for the front buckets is optional.
Hyundai's USB and auxiliary input cluster should be familiar to readers of any of our previous Hyundai vehicle reviews.
LED taillamps punctuate the Azera's rear end.
Panoramic moonroofs are all the rage these days and the Azera can be optioned to feature one.
The Azera slots into Hyundai's lineup between the Sonata and Genesis Sedan models.
