2011 Mazda Mazda2 (photos)
Although Mazda was tight-lipped with the details, we were able to get a look at the 2011 Mazda2 at the 2009 LA Auto Show.
At last, the 2008 World Car of the Year makes its debut in U.S. trim.
Mazda was surprisingly tight-lipped about the Mazda2's engine and estimated fuel economy.
We don't expect the 2 to differ too much from its Euro-spec sibling, so we predict a 1.3- to 1.5-liter gasoline engine.
Fuel economy is expected to hover around a combined 35 mpg, with predictably low emissions to match.
Of course, the Mazda2 shares a platform with the Ford Fiesta, so expect a similar footprint and interior dimensions.
In addition to the stock production model, Mazda brought along a trio of modified Mazda2s.
This model is equipped with upgraded wheels and a roof rack, complete with snowboarding equipment. Custom 2-themed graphics complete the package.
As a fan of small, fast cars, this Mazda2 equipped with Mazdaspeed accessories is one of my favorites.
A custom body kit and uprated suspension components should help this hatch deliver on the Zoom-Zoom promise.
Projector style headlamps with black housings give the Mazdaspeed Mazda2 an aggressive aesthetic.
