Honda finally reveals the new 2011 Odyssey minivan, and it looks as if it borrows a few cues from the competition.

True to the concept

For better or worse, Honda's production version of the Odyssey is fairly true to the concept that it showed at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show.

Styling

The new Odyssey inherits some of the styling cues of the latest Accord and Accord Crosstour. The result is a vehicle that appears slightly awkward in photographs.

Offset belt line

The Odyssey's design features a high beltline that drops at the C-pillar. Meanwhile the front and rear sliding door pulls meet at the B-pillar visually forming a single large handle.

Corporate grill

Up front, the Odyssey is lead by Honda's corporate three-bar grill.

Rear view

Out back, the tail lamps are connected by a slim reflector. This example appears to be equipped with some sort of rear proximity detection system; the sensors are visible along the bumper.

Entrance and egress

Like any good minivan, the Odyssey retains its rear sliding doors and large rear hatch. The large tailgate is power actuated.

Interior

The interior of the Odyssey will be familiar to anyone who's sat in a current-generation Honda, but regardless of whether Honda likes it, its minivan bears a number of similarities to Toyota's Sienna.

Wide view monitor

Does this display look familiar? Just like the competing Toyota Sienna, Honda's Odyssey features a ceiling mounted rear-seat-entertainment system with an extra wide monitor. Like the Toyota, Honda's system can also display two video sources side by side.

HDMI input

However, Honda has upped the ante by making adding an HDMI video input for its rear seat display. If we're not mistaken, that's an automotive industry first.

Infotainment

While the menu structure appears to have remained mostly the same, the Odyssey's infotainment system has received a much needed graphic overhaul.

Hard drive-based

The Honda's hard drive-based navigation and entertainment hub also devotes storage space ripping audio files.
