2011 Audi A4 (photos)
For 2011, Audi adds an eight-speed automatic transmission to the equipment list, working to enhance highway fuel economy with two tall gears.
Audi's smallest sedan, the A4, fits into the premium car segment with quality cabin materials and excellent cabin electronic options. For the 2011 model year, Audi added an eight-speed automatic transmission and HD radio, but got rid of its 3.2-liter V-6 engine choice.
Current Audi styling is led by the large grille, running through the bumper line, and LED strips in the headlights.
The A4's only engine choice is a direct-injection turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder. It makes more than adequate power to move the little sedan.
A high roofline means adequate headroom for front and rear passengers.
This A4 model came with Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system, but the car can also be had in front-wheel-drive format.
Not overly large, the trunk shows the expected capacity of a midsize car.
Leather power seats and quality materials, including metal surrounds on dials, contribute to the A4's premium segment position.
The A4 uses a hydraulic power steering system, as opposed to the electric systems gaining wider usage these days.
The eight-speed automatic transmission includes sport and manual modes.
The Multimedia Interface controls include a number of function buttons and the center dial, all of which control infotainment features on the center LCD.
The maps for the navigation system are stored on a hard drive and show topographic as well as 3D features.
The navigation system includes traffic data, received over satellite.
The phone system is first-rate, and includes phone book downloading and voice command.
Music sources include onboard storage, an iPod interface, and SD card slots.
The Bang & Olufsen audio option is worth the price, as it produces excellent sound.
Audi's backup camera shows trajectory lines along with distance markers, making it easy to park.
