The 2015 BMW i8 is unlike any BMW model and I'm not just talking about its sci-fi appearance. The plug-in hybrid features a turbocharged three-cylinder engine driving the rear wheels and a 96-kilowatt electric motor turning the fronts. BMW states output as 362 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, while returning 94 mpg under the EU test cycle.

Kia joins its sister company in tackling the luxury sedan market with the new 2015 Kia K900. The large sedan is based on the Hyundai Genesis/Equus platform and features a similar V-6 and V-8 rear-wheel-drive powertrains. The K900 will also be the first Kia model available with a full-color head-up display for speed, turn-by-turn navigation, and alerts for the various onboard safety technologies.

The 2015 Porsche Macan Turbo boasts the potential for off-road chops, but most prospective drivers are likely interested in the on-road performance of the 400 horsepower, turbocharged V-6 engine and top track speed of 164 mph.

The most exciting model that Jaguar makes gets even more curvaceous and menacing with the debut of the 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe. The inclusion of the hardtop creates more rigidity throughout the body when compared to the Roadster, as well as a more gorgeous rear end.

The 2015 Honda Fit somehow manages to increase its interior volume, despite being about 2 inches shorter than the current model. This efficient use of space is echoed by its new fuel-efficient Earth Dreams 1.5-liter engine and CVT combo.

Ford brought the full-sized pickup truck into the 21st century with the debut of the 2015 Ford F-150 at the Detroit show. The F-series features aluminum construction that saves 700 pounds over the previous generation, full-LED illumination, more fuel efficient engine options, and a refreshed suite of dashboard and safety tech including a 360-degree around-view camera system.

BMW pulled the wraps off of the 2015 BMW M4 coupe at the Detroit auto show this year, but I was more interested in the competing 2015 Lexus RC F coupe across the show floor. Beneath Lexus' polarizing design language -- and this is the most attractive model to wear the automaker's spindle grill -- the rear drive coupe is powered by a beastly 5.0-liter V-8 engine outputting 450 horsepower and over 383 pound-feet of torque.

The 2015 Chrysler 200 is probably the nameplate to benefit most from the Fiat-Chrysler union. Now based on Italian underpinnings similar to that of the Dodge Dart and boasting a host of cabin and safety tech, Chrysler's most disappointing vehicle is suddenly the most exciting model wearing the winged emblem.

Toyota is a brand that typically plays it safe, so we were stunned to see the automaker pull the wraps off of a much more dynamically styled 2015 Toyota Camry XSE in New York. Dubbed the "sportiest Camry yet," this model features a new look, new tech, and suspension and steering that have been tuned for a more involved, sporty driving experience.

The 2015 Audi TT debuted with a more crisp exterior design, but we were wowed by its Virtual Cockpit, a fresh take on the digital dashboard that does away with the traditional center stack for a more feature-rich 12.3-inch LCD instrument cluster. We're also looking forward to the turbocharged engine options. ranging from 230 to 310 horsepower.

The new entry-level Lamborghini debuted at the 2014 Geneva auto show, replacing my personal favorite supercar, the Gallardo. The all-new 2015 Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 features a 601 horsepower V-10 engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, a new lightweight aluminum and carbon chassis, and improved tech and creature comforts.
