If you ever though that a Volvo couldn't be sexy, prepare to be surprised. Nouphone J. Bansasine designed this slick 2015 Volvo S90 concept during his internship at the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Center--birthplace of the XC90, S80, S60, and the Safety Concept Car that would become the current Volvo C30--and it's probably the sweetest looking Volvo that we've ever seen.

The S90 has the four-door coupe profile that is so very popular with automakers these days, but it has what appear to be rear suicide doors, a la Mazda RX-8 or Mini Clubman. At the nose of the concept, Bansasine gave the vehicle a long hood, aggressive LED headlamps, and a large, gaping grill. The S90 has some seriously deep body sculpting that terminates with an attractively upturned rear end and boomerang-shaped LED tail lamps. It has big wheels, a low roofline, blacked-out B-pillars, and flared front fenders that complete the sports car aesthetic.

Volvo hasn't released information as to what sort of power train would live beneath this hypothetical S90 concept's hood. But considering that this car is meant to compete in the premium sport sedan segment, we're assuming that it would have to be pretty powerful to run with the likes of the Porsche Panamera and the still-conceptual BMW Gran Coupe. The presence of an odd, green badge on the concept's rear possibly hints at hybrid aspirations. And because this is a Volvo, we'd expect a suite of active safety technologies and perhaps even an all-wheel-drive system.

The fact that this concept was born in an official Volvo design facility separates Bansasine's S90 from mere fan art. However, Volvo has made no announcement of plans to actually build the S90 concept. What do you think? Could you see the S90 prowling the same showroom floors as the S60 and C70? Sound off on the comments.
