Felipe Massa's Better Days: Victory at Turkish Grand Prix 2008

While Formula 1 race car driver Felipe Massa is on the road to recovery following a nasty crash at the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix, today we celebrate one of his several victories from the 2008 F1 season.

As some of you already know (either by my blog from yesterday or from other sports news sites), Formula 1 race car driver Felipe Massa suffered a nearly lethal crash at the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix due to a freak accident - a random car part coming off another vehicle which subsequently hits Massa in the head, leaving him temporarily unconscious. Well, Felipe's racing career hasn't been all bad; in fact, he had an impressive year racing for Formula 1 in 2008 where he garnered 6 wins and finished in 2nd place in the overall standings. (Coincidentally, the driver who did win the Hungarian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton, finished out the 2008 F1 season as number one in overall standings). Today's video is a tribute to one of those several wins he won last season when he secured the checkered flag at the Turkish Grand Prix which took place on May 11, 2008.

One thing I like about this particular video is that it is a highlight reel of sorts in that it shows not just Felipe Massa in action, but many of the 2008 F1 drivers buzzing around the track plus the occasional flip or crash here and there, all set to the rockin' sounds of The Hives. At about the 2:10 mark, we get to see Massa finish his final lap in his F1 Ferrari, and his crew is ready to celebrate. Hopefully, this won't be the last we hear of Massa in the racing world. Get well soon!
