This Whirlpool dryer is tailor-made for tight living quarters

Whirlpool

Whirlpool has already announced that it's adding a large-capacity top-load washing machine (with coordinating dryer) to its lineup at CES 2016. Now, the team is sharing details on an all-new closet-depth laundry pair that can still supposedly "handle family-sized loads."

The real stand-out here, though, is the dryer. Like Whirlpool's existing ventless model, this dryer -- available in two models, WED9290FW for $1,699 (‎£1,155, AU$2,360) and WED7990FW for $1,299 (‎£880, AU$1,800) -- doesn't need an output vent. That means that folks with space limitations who also don't have a standard output air vent should still be able to install this Closet Depth Front Load Washer and HybridCare Heat Pump Dryer in their homes.

Specifically, Whirlpool claims that its Heat Pump dryer "processes, dries and recycles the air in the drum so there is no need for a traditional output air vent."

The coordinating washer is equipped with a detergent reservoir designed to hold up to 12 washes, as well as an "All-In-One Care system" with a "wash and dry" setting that lets you de-wrinkle and dry clothes in the washer, keeping them "fresh" for "up to 12 hours". If you're prone to forgetting to take clothes out of the washer after a cycle, this could prove quite useful.

Whirlpool's new Closet Depth Front Load Washer and HybridCare Heat Pump Dryer are slated to hit retail outlets in April, so stay tuned for full reviews.
