In CNET Labs' tests, the Toshiba Qosmio E15-AV101's battery life proved less impressive than its . In fact, with the OS booted, the notebook's high performance drained its 39WHr (watt-hour) battery in 2 short hours. The Acer Aspire 2020, with mobile performance virtually identical to that of the Qosmio E15-AV101, lasted for 4 hours, 42 minutes, with its more powerful 64WHr battery. Worse yet, without the OS booted, the Qosmio played a DVD for only 1 hour, 34 minutes. So whether or not you're booting up the OS, you'll want to stay close to a power socket.

Toshiba's support Web site is industrial strength and very well organized. It features sections for driver downloads, tech support, warranty and service, and interactive support. The Ask IRIS search engine brings up articles relevant to support questions you ask in plain English or Spanish. The 10 most recent support updates are posted on the main page for quick reference.
The company preloads the Qosmio's hard drive with a whole bunch of service and support utilities, all collected in a single place. The Notebook Maximizer gives you up-to-the-minute system status, including free storage space, remaining battery charge, and current processor activity. We really missed having a thorough set of printed documentation, however. Setting up a system this complex can be tricky, and more than once we found ourselves scratching our heads, in need of a little more guidance.
