LAS VEGAS -- The L5400 is Toshiba's mainstream series and comes in two screen sizes: 58 inches and 65 inches. Like its 4K doppelganger, the L7400, the cheaper L5400 misses out on meaty picture-quality features like a super-bright panel and the full-array local dimming. It does feature the 1080p version of the company's picture enhancement engine, though.

In a bid to improve the field of terrible onboard sound, Toshiba has introduced a new folded speaker system which should produce more bass than most TV sets. Voice control is also built-in.

The L5400 includes the Smart TV operating system, dual-core processor, and onboard Wi-Fi.

The L5400 will be available in 2014 with pricing to be announced.
