ThinkPad X32 series

The well-designed, business-oriented, ultraportable ThinkPad X32 provides more component flexibility than most systems in its class. Its Intel Pentium M processor comes in a range of speeds from 1.7GHz to 2GHz; 40GB to 80GB hard drives are available in either 4,200rpm or 5,400rpm speeds; and Wi-Fi cards include 802.11b/g and a/b/g varieties. That said, you still get only one standard 12.1-inch, 1,024x768 screen; an aging 16MB ATI Mobility Radeon graphics chip; and a somewhat slow, 333MHz memory speed. The ThinkPad X32 that we tested featured the best parts of the bunch and cost an acceptable $2,199 (as of May 2005) through the Think Express Program; configuring the system on your own costs about $200 more. As long as they don't need an internal optical drive, typical business travelers will be pleased with the ThinkPad X32.
