Plantronics M110 review: Plantronics M110

3.5 stars

CNET Editors' Rating

The Good Comfortable; good sound quality.

The Bad Conspicuous; no integrated Answer/End button.

The Bottom Line The M110 is suitable for in-car and home use but a bit too conspicuous to wear while you are walking the streets.

7.0 Overall

The Plantronics M110 is a standard, reasonably attractive headband-style headset that we can recommend for in-car and at home use (it also doubles as a headset for cordless phones). But unless you want to look like a switchboard operator, it's less than ideal for use in the streets. Cozy comfort
With its padded earpiece, which covers the entire ear, and adjustable headband, the M110 should fit most heads snugly. But on occasion--particularly on hot days--you'll find that your ear may get a little sweaty with extended use. This typically doesn't happen with ear bud-style phones.

The M110's most notable feature is the adjustable mike. It swings down in front of your mouth and can swivel a full 180 degrees, allowing you to wear the headset on either ear. If you're interested in a model with more features, such as an in-line volume control, you may want to step up to the company's M114.

Decent sound
As for sound quality, we were impressed overall. Callers said we sounded clear and loud. While we could hear them just fine, we did find the acoustics to be a little tinny.

The M110 lists for $29.95, but you should be able to find it for closer to $20. It's not a steal at that price, but it's not a bad deal either, especially when you consider that this headset can be used with both a cell phone and a cordless phone. We should note, however, that it's probably worth the extra couple of bucks to step up to the M114.
