BARCELONA, Spain -- In addition to showcasing its mid- to high-end handsets, like the G Pro 2 and the G2 Mini, LG also unveiled an entry-level LTE device called the F70 during Mobile World Congress. Sporting modest specs, the device is set to launch in March, starting with Europe, and then rolling out to other countries in Asia and Latin America.

The compact device features a plastic build and a 4.5-inch WVGA display. It's powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor from Qualcomm and a 2,440mAh removable battery. This doesn't make it a high-powered handset by any means, but these internal guts do well enough to carry out your everyday smartphone tasks.

On the rear, you'll find a 5-megapixel camera with flash, coupled with a VGA secondary shooter in the front. Though the phone only holds 4GB of internal memory for all those resulting photos and videos, the option for expandable memory up to 32GB is provided.

The handset will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat, and will include signature user interface features from LG including QSlide, LG's multitasking window that let's you view and resize apps, like the browser and video player, while using other apps or viewing the home screen.

As for its look, the F70 is stamped from the same mold as the new L series of phones, with rounded corners, a physical home button below the screen, and a lightly textured backing that strangely feels a little unpleasantly rough under the fingertips. The white model we saw was attractive-enough, and fit fine in the hand.

Though LG has yet to announce pricing info, we'd expect the F70 to be around $100 on-contract. This is based on LG's previous Optimus F7 model, which belongs in the company's family of entry-range handsets.
