LAS VEGAS -- iRobot has just introduced a brand-new floor-scrubbing 'bot to the lineup -- the Scooba 450. This $599 hard-surface-washing robot claims to be able to get rid of up to 99.3 percent of the gunky build-up on your hard flooring surfaces -- that includes potentially harmful bacteria like E. coli and S. aureus. The 450 will round out iRobot's floor scrubber offerings, which already include the $499 Scooba 390 and the $279 Scooba 230.

As the premium Scooba option, the 450 will come with new features and what iRobot says is more advanced tech than previous models. It is equipped with a "three-cycle cleaning process" that supposedly cleans hard floors three times better and requires less effort on your part. That means that it can sweep and presoak, scrub, and squeegee bare floors while you rejoice at your new-found independence.

The company says that the 450's scrubbing brush can spin at over 600rpm -- that sure sounds powerful enough to get rid of any stubborn floor scuffs, stains, and other unwanted residue. It also comes with iAdapt Responsive Navigation Technology, which uses sensors and algorithms to clean efficiently while avoiding stairs or other potential hazards. You can also buy the Scooba DryDock Charging and Drying Stand separately for $79; that seems like a lot, but it's supposed to cut down on drying time.

The Scooba 450 will reportedly charge in under 3 hours, features verbal cues, and its design incorporates color-coding -- all to improve usability. It also has two different cleaning options. There's a 40-minute cycle that can cover up to 300 square feet, and a 20-minute cycle that can tackle a 150-square-foot space. For convenience, the 450 can be paired with many of the accessories available on Roomba vacuum cleaning robots, like Virtual Wall Barriers (which can be used to create an "invisible fence" to close off a room with an open floor plan).
