LAS VEGAS -- Backyard barbecuers rejoice. At this year's CES, iDevices announced the release of the iGrill2 Bluetooth Smart Meat Thermometer. This device helps you keep track of the temperature of your food as it cooks. Using the iDevices app, the iGrill2 monitors the food in your grill from up to 150 feet away. The app is currently available only in the iTunes store and is supported by iPad (3rd Generation or newer), iPhone (4S or newer), and iPod touch (5 and up). Android users can expect an app release sometime in 2014.

Key features include an LED display with proximity wake-up capability, magnetic mounting, ports for four temperature probes (two more than the previous model ), and 150 hours of battery life with two AA batteries. The magnetic mounting is convenient in that you can attach the device directly to the outside of your grill or smoker.

You might appreciate the freedom of being able to monitor the foods inside your grill while still enjoying your friends or family. Used in tandem with the iDevices iLP Bluetooth Smart Liquid Propane Monitor, the iGrill2 could make grilling even more hassle-free. You’ll be able to purchase the $99 iGrill2 through iDevices in 2014; in the meantime we'll try to get some hands-on time here at the show.

Don't Miss
