HP LaserJet 2400 review: HP LaserJet 2400

Quality
The HP LaserJet 2420d's text print quality was good overall, with a delicate crispness. Beginning at a 4-point font size, however, the quality degraded and individual letters suffered a moth-eaten look. If you don't need a roomy multipurpose tray, you may want to consider the cheaper HP LaserJet 1320 , which delivers excellent text.

Graphics prints were disappointing in CNET Labs' tests. Gradients failed to make a linear progression from dark to light, while shaded and solid backgrounds were rough and showed significant crosshatching. Photos looked grainy and lacked details and contrast, causing our samples to resemble photocopy quality--similar to the output of the Brother HL-6050d, which costs $100 less. The Lexmark T430dn, on the other hand, produced excellent text and good graphics.
