The plight of the kitchen utensil is well documented. That spatula or ladle is incredibly handy when you're cooking and serving, but when it's time to stick it in the dishwasher, things get a little bit murky. Cooking utensils tend to get scattered around my dishwasher like an afterthought, because, well, they are.

GE is hoping to change all that with today's announcement of two new dishwashers, the $1,599 Profile Series Stainless Steel Interior Dishwasher with Hidden Controls PDT760SSFSS and the $1,699 Cafe Series Stainless Interior Built-In Dishwasher with Hidden Controls CDT765SSFSS. Both are revamped versions of existing models; the $1,299 Profile Series Stainless Steel Interior Dishwasher with Hidden Controls PDT750SSFSS and the $1,199 Cafe Series Stainless Interior Built-In Dishwasher with Hidden Controls CDT725SSFSS. There's one key difference, though -- the new-generation models introduce a third rack designed expressly for utensils of the measuring-cup, corkscrew, and cheese-grater variety (forks, knives, and spoons are welcome, too).

The PDT760SSFSS's third rack is customizable. GE

A third rack for utensils isn't new, but GE's spin here is dividing it into two modular sections, so you can arrange your cleaning setup in a way that makes the most sense. In addition, GE says both models have gotten quieter (40 decibels, to be exact). The Cafe series has also gained two new cleaning cycles, Express and eWash. Both dishwashers are available for purchase now.

Don't Miss
