Asus Transformer Pad TF303CL tablet is gold and white, but not quite right

The Asus Transformer Pad TF303CL meekly sits in the shadow of its excitingly unique 5-in-1 Transformer Book brethren, but those interested in a mid-range tablet-hybrid might appreciate the subtle re-boot.

The white and gold-tinged Transformer Pad TF303CL ships with Android 4.4 and houses a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z3745 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. Though there's a microSD card expansion slot, Asus offers 5GB of cloud storage for life, via its WebStorage service, with an additional 11GB for the first year. The tablet also has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing 1.2-megapixel shooter.

The 10.1-inch tablet features a 1,920x1,200-pixel resolution IPS display with a purported 178-degree wide viewing angle and Asus' handy Splendid calibration software for fine-tuning its color. The traditional keyboard dock usually paired with the Transformer Pads gets a minor redesign, now with a hidden hinge, but the tablet design remains similar to previous models.

Asus announced a bevy of new devices at Computex 2014, including the aforementioned Transformer Book V, and a sleek 8-inch MeMo Pad, but the Transformer Pad line seems to have hit a plateau. Its specs are fine, but in such a saturated market, fine doesn't cut it anymore -- even if it is a "gold" tablet.
