LAS VEGAS -- Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer on Tuesday took the CES stage, where she announced several new news products, including a twice-daily summary of trending headlines called Yahoo News Digets, and digital magazines, starting with Yahoo Tech and Yahoo Food.
Mayer announced the company's new digital magazines, specially designed websites that deliver original content and news. The first two magazines are Yahoo Food and Yahoo Tech, the latter is led by former New York Times columnist David Pogue, who joined Yahoo in 2013.
Yahoo's Adam Cahan, SVP of mobile and emerging products, took the stage to talk about Yahoo's video efforts. The company has a connected TV service, called Smart TV, which is available on select internet-enabled TVs. There's also a Smart TV app for the iPad.
Yahoo announced a new partnership with Viacom to bring episodes of "The Daily Show with John Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" to Smart TV.
Smart TV's new smart guide learns what you like to watch from on-demand, your cable programming, and the Internet, and then suggests videos that match your tastes. It gets more precise overtime as you watch more and more TV and movies.
Yahoo's Smart TV app lets you watch clips and video. Lately, the company has been running television ads playing up the fact that you can watch "Saturday Night Live" clips in the app. As a tie-in to those ads, two cast members from SNL came on stage to entertain the crowd.
