Vizio Tablet

The Vizio Tablet is an 8-inch, Android-based tablet due out in summer 2011 with an as-yet-announced price. Aside from its near-iPad screen size, its coolest feature is an integrated IR blaster hidden on the top edge, capable of controlling your TV or other AV components.

Vizio Tablet

The Vizio Tablet runs a heavily optimized version of Google's Android OS, but is promised to be compatible with Google's Android Marketplace and Google Mobile Apps. The exact version of Android running at the core is unknown, but the summer release date may give the manufacturer some time to find the ideal candidate.

Vizio Tablet and iPad

How does the Vizio Tablet's 8-inch screen stack up against the iPad's 9.7-inch panel? Pretty well, I'd say. The iPad is a much fairer comparison than the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Time will tell if the Android apps on the Vizio Tablet can do the extra screen size justice.

Vizio Tablet

The top edge of the Vizio Tablet holds a power switch, along with a stereo pair of speakers. Three speakers total are included on the device (one located on the bottom edge) that activate or deactivate based on how the device is being held, minimizing the possibility of covering the speakers with your hands.

Vizio Tablet

The back of the Vizio Tablet is a little uninteresting. Noticeably absent: a camera. Let's hope that keeps the price down.
