HTC Touch Diamond for Verizon

Verizon Wireless customers who have been lusting over the HTC Touch Diamond can finally get one of their own. The Windows Mobile smartphone is available now for $299.99 with a two-year contract.

High price

There are plenty of features packed into the Windows Mobile smartphone, including Wi-Fi, support for Verizon's EV-DO Rev. A network, VZ Navigator, and Visual Voice Mail. However, we think the price is too high considering that the Touch Diamond is older and the HTC Touch Diamond2 has already been announced and should be coming soon.

Sleek design

The Verizon HTC Touch Diamond is more similar in design to the unlocked version of the smartphone, with its sharper edges and geometric back.

Compact

The Touch Diamond is nice and compact, measuring 4 inches tall by 2 inches wide by 0.5 inch thick and weighing 4.2 ounces.

TouchFlo 3D interface

The Touch Diamond features a 2.8-inch VGA touch screen that displays 262,000 colors and has a 640x480-pixel resolution. The smartphone also features HTC's TouchFlo 3D interface.

Smile for the camera

On back, you'll find a 3.2-megapixel camera, which has 4x zoom and multiple shooting modes, including video.

Picture quality

We weren't terribly impressed by the picture quality. Objects looked clear in the images, but we would have liked a little more richness in color.

Memory

Unlike the unlocked and Sprint models, the Verizon Touch Diamond comes equipped with a microSD expansion slot. However, the trade-off is you get less onboard memory (256MB flash and 128MB RAM vs. 4GB internal memory) and consequently, this affects the smartphone's performance.
