Velocity Micro Cruz T408 & T410

Velocity Micro's latest batch of Android tablets includes a $239 T408 model with an 8-inch screen (left), and a $299 T410 model with a 10-inch screen. Both models offer 4GB of built-in storage, along with microSD memory expansion, and both run a modified (though upgradable) version of Android 2.3.

Velocity Micro Cruz T408

The more affordable of the pair, the $239 Velocity Micro Cruz T408 features an 8-inch screen, 4GB of storage, and 512MB of system memory. Apps for Amazon's App Market and Kindle e-reader come preinstalled, as well as the full version of Quickoffice and Angry Birds Rio. Google's official apps for Maps, Apps, Gmail, and more, are not included.

The screen on the Velocity Micro Cruz T408 is set back slightly from the bezel, presumably to prevent the screen from wear and tear. Unfortunately, the surrounding glossy plastic feels a little cheap.

Velocity Micro Cruz T408

A VGA resolution camera is included on the face of the Velocity Micro Cruz T408, though no camera is included on the back. The camera can be used in conjunction with the included Camera app, and presumably for video chat--though no chat app comes preinstalled.

The back of the Velocity Micro Cruz T408 is covered in a matte black plastic that gets smudgy, but feels better than a slick, gloss coat.
