The Vaio Z Canvas is one powerful tablet (pictures)

The 12.3-inch Vaio Z Canvas easily fits under an arm or into a small messenger bag.

It's not a laptop, but rather a three-piece mobile workstation consisting of a tablet with kickstand, a wireless keyboard and touchpad, and a stylus.

Since the keyboard cover is wireless, you can place it anywhere you like while you work.

The "magic hinge," as Vaio refers to it internally, resists the pressure of the stylus pen as you press down, but also allows you to lift the tablet up to a desired angle with a single finger.

Shame the stylus isn't a bit more responsive. We prefer the one that comes with the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, or the Apple Pencil which goes with the iPad Pro.

These two pins charge the keyboard cover while it's attached. You can also charge it with a Micro-USB cable.

Plenty of ports for docking, including an Ethernet jack for networking and a pair of 4K video outputs.

A closer look at the stylus.

Three fans spin inside the Vaio's frame. They're each intelligently designed to cancel out the noise from one another.

Here's the power button and volume rocker on the upper-right corner of the frame, as well as a dedicated button to turn off the touchscreen. The stylus will still work if you do.

Another dedicated button pulls up a menu filled with customizable touchscreen shortcuts. You can cut, copy, paste, etc., without needing a keyboard.

The full-size, full depth SD card slot will come in handy for photographers.
