Using an iPhone to help clean our teeth with Oral-B's new toothbrush (pictures)
Oral-B's new connected Genius 9000 toothbrush uses your phone's camera to monitor how well you're cleaning your teeth.
Not brushing properly? Oral-B's latest smart brush, the Genius 9000, is here to teach you the key to sparkling gnashers.
It ropes in your smartphone to help -- stick your phone on your mirror with the included bracket, and the toothbrush's app uses the front-facing camera to gauge whereabouts in your mouth you're brushing, and for how long.
Your mouth is represented by these six zones on the app, each of which turns white when the brush thinks you've cleaned that area enough.
You even get rewards for good brushing.
This is handy: Pressure sensors in the brush can tell if you're pushing too hard and damaging your gums. It'll glow red to warn you to ease off a bit.
Here's the brush itself.
My dentist would be proud.
It shows you brushing stats over the past days, weeks or months.
The idea is that it'll encourage you to learn how to brush properly and to maintain the technique.
You can customise the glowing colours of the brush to suit your tastes. Of course I chose hot pink.
