The Twitter app for Zune HD is a freely downloadable app available directly from the Zune HD or through the Zune desktop software. It exists among a handful of other apps for the Zune HD, most of which are games.

Upon launching the app, users are asked for their Twitter account log-in and password, which is saved on the device for all future log-in sessions. Use of the Twitter logo and bird mascot are an indication that the app was developed officially by Twitter.

Creating a tweet pops up a portrait-oriented keyboard. A tab within the tweet window switches between general messages and direct messages. Beneath the tabs are buttons for adding users to the message with @ replies, or inserting the title and artist info of the currently playing song.
