Photobombing frog

This little Virginia frog became Internet-famous this week, when it was caught taking one giant leap for amphibian kind during the liftoff of a Minotaur 5 rocket carrying NASA's Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE).

A 1950s droid

Ah, 1950s robots. They seemed to usher in an era of automatons fulfilling our every whim and desire. Decades later, science fiction has yet to deliver.

But that hasn't stopped enthusiasts from bidding up the price of this 8-foot-tall droid from the era to a whopping 17,500 pounds ($27,786) at a recent auction by Christie's.

A digital display three stories high and 60m wide

The Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre recently reopened with the unveiling of Asia's largest LED display wall. Called the Big Picture, it is put together using 664 LG full-HD IPS panels.

Try to picture a digital display that's three stories high and 60m wide. That is just how huge this Big Display is. It boasts a combined screen resolution which is 21 times that of an ultra high-definition TV (or 84 times that of a full-HD screen). While property owner Suntec REIT has been tight-lipped about the cost involved, we understand that it will be recovered through advertising.

DIY Boba Fett

You can't just go out and buy a Boba Fett costume and say the deed is done, especially if you want to do it right. When Andrew Miller created his first Fett costume at age 27, little did he know he'd be spending many years after tweaking, changing pieces often, and eventually coming close to achieving a film-quality representation of the Boba Fett costume as seen in the 1983 sci-fi spectacular "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi."

Miller told CNET he has spent "hundreds and hundreds" of hours perfecting the outfit. It took six months of nights and weekends to build the original suit, and Miller has since then upgraded almost every piece of the outfit as more reference material hit the Internet. The community and resources from The Dented Helmet, a collective of Boba Fett costume enthusiasts, have substantially helped Miller along the way.
