The wild, high-tech rides of CES (pictures)
Amid the electronics-stuffed halls of CES 2013 there exists a minor car show, a mix of the newest high tech models from major automakers and the wildest modified rides from aftermarket suppliers.
Ford C-Max Energi
The C-Max Energi, the plug-in version of Ford's new hybrid C-Max, showed up at CES 2013 as the Official Car of CES. Its plug-in hybrid system gives it an EPA fuel economy of 100 miles per gallon equivalent for both gasoline and electric use, while its Sync AppLink system lets drivers use 20 different apps.
Ford Shelby GT 500
This Shelby GT 500 was attracting attention outside the convention center, probably due to the sign that said "Enter Here To Win."
Formula Ford 1.0L
Ford's little race car, dubbed the Formula Ford 1.0L, shows off its 1-liter Ecoboost engine.
Toyota FJ Cruiser at Scosche
Scosche, maker of many aftermarket car tech products, including stereo components and installation kits, brought this big Toyota to the show floor.

This slammed Chevy pick-up truck, sporting an LS7 engine, sat in the MTX Audio booth.

Lexus CT 200h at Pioneer
Pioneer used this CT 200h to demonstrate its connected car stereo, along with some heavy duty sound equipment. The car featured modifications by Five Axis.

The Chrysler Group puts its new SRT Viper on the floor to attract attention and demonstrate its UConnect Access system.

Right around the corner from the SRT Viper sat this Dodge Charger with a police package, attracting attention with its spinning lights.
Fiat 500L
The Chrysler Group included a little Italian flavor with this Fiat 500L, the newest model in the 500 line. It featured a Beats by Dre audio system.

One of the most popular new sports cars, this Scion FR-S featured a stereo system by Phoenix Gold.

Neatly set into the FR-S's trunk was this five-channel TI 2 amp, with 1,000 watts output on 2 ohm. It powered a 10-inch subwoofer, among other speakers.
Hyundai Veloster Turbo
Hyundai put its Veloster Turbo model on the floor to demonstrate the BlueLink connectivity system.

The 2014 Sorento deserved its spot in Kia's booth for its LCD instrument cluster and UVO voice command system.
