The mother of all home theaters
Writer Steve Guttenberg gets treated to an in-depth tour of one of the most advanced technical achievements in home theater in the world: the $6 million Kipnis Studio Standard Theater.
Writer Steve Guttenberg and KSS designer Jeremy R. Kipnis sit inside the Kipnis Studio Standard - Cine Beta. It is truly a movie lover's dream come true! (Image on screen is simulated.)
What looks like an entire high-end audio setup is only 1.1 of the entire 8.8-surround-channel system.
The library includes 40,000 LPs; 20,000 CDs; 15,000 DVDs; 12,000 laserdiscs; and more than 5,000 high-definition possibilities!
The front left array displays only one of the 30 McIntosh Tube Amplifiers in the studio.
The studio contains five McIntosh Amplifiers for each channel array--that's more than 500 tubes in all, plus solid-state amplification from Crown and Mark Levinson for the bass.
The KSS Projection Booth is complete with a Sony PlayStation 3. The Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii are behind the rear subwoofer array. The Mammoth Projector at the top is the Sony SRX-R110: a 4K Cine Alta professional projector with 8.89 megapixels.
An Apple iPhone acts as the touch-screen controls for the entire system thanks to a unique Crestron Automation System.
Separate Services: Twin General Electric No. 868 high voltage transformers (13,800 volts to 240 volts/800 amperes each) provide power to the studio. One is used exclusively for the analog components, and the other exclusively for the digital.

Quad mode (4x1080P) at The Kipnis Studio Standard. The use of a 4K projector (such as the Meridian 810 Reference Video System) allows for multiple simultaneous viewing at full HD resolution! (Images here are simulated.)
