Take a closer look at the BlackBerry Priv (pictures)

Meet the BlackBerry Priv. BlackBerry's first foray into the Android ecosystem pairs speedy hardware with a great display.

It's also a slider. A four-row QWERTY keyboard is hidden behind the display. The keyboard might be a bit narrow for big hands, but it's well designed and comfortable to type on.

BlackBerry is promising to secure the Android ecosystem, offering monthly security upgrades and the ability to push hotfixes to devices, even if your carrier isn't ready.

The Priv fits neatly in the hand -- unlike the cumbersome Passport. It also offers a full keyboard and a large display, unlike the BlackBerry Classic.

The four-row capacitive keyboard can serve as a touchpad.

The 18-megapixel camera leaves much to be desired, but it'll be suitable for social media sharing. It also shoots 4K video.

The camera's two-tone flash should prevent casting a blue or yellow haze over your shots.

The Priv has a curved display, but it doesn't make much use of it yet. The Battery Edge is great though -- it'll keep tabs on your charging progress.

The phone charges via MicroUSB, but it's also SlimPort enabled, so you can add more advanced display options if you've got the right dongles.

The phone supports expandable storage -- you can add up to 2TB microSD cards.
