T-Mobile G2

It's been two years since the first Android phone and now the T-Mobile G1 finally has a successor in the T-Mobile G2. It's available now for $199.99 with a two-year contract.

Features

The G2 ships running Android 2.2 with the stock Android interface. It's the first smartphone to run on T-Mobile's HSPA+ network, which promises 4G-like speeds. Other features of the G2 include a 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive touch screen, an 800MHz processor, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

Design

The T-Mobile G2 is a much more attractive device than its predecessor, but what's most striking about the phone is its solid build quality.

Keyboard

The G2's QWERTY keyboard is outstanding. The buttons are raised about the surface and have good amount of spacing between them. There are also three "quick keys" on the bottom row that you can assign to open your favorite applications.

The only aspect of phone's design that concerns us is the slider hinge, as it feels a bit weak.

Left spine

On the left side, you will find a volume rocker and a Micro-USB port.

The top of the device features the power button and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Camera

Like a number of today's higher-end smartphones, the T-Mobile G2 has a 5-megapixel camera and HD video recording capabilities.

Picture quality

Despite having a flash and various editing options, the G2's camera didn't take the best indoor photos.
