Sustainable Planet Showcase
At this year's 2009 CES, green tech is making its mark at the Sustainable Planet showcase, located in Central Hall. These eco-friendly exhibitors' booths look smaller than the more mainstream booths nearby, but their cause is big.
If you want versatility when it comes to how you power your phone, ipod or camera charger, then the K2 is for you. This device creates power through two methods, wind and solar.
PowerFilm inc. has a booth this year in the Central hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. One of the products on display is a flexible solar charger. Wear it on your backpack while hiking and it charges 2 AA batteries in 4 hours.
Basic technology can sometimes be the boldest in design. Wooden radios were displayed in the Strida booth to promote their line of folding bicycles.
If solar and wind aren't available for generating power, then Horizon's MiniPak will be good to have on hand. Just pop in a hydrogen cartridge and this mini charger will power any mobile device.
The TrickleStar PC TrickleSaver connects to your computer devices and links them to your computer so when you turn your computer on, the other devices turn on and conversely when you turn it off. It helps to reduce the stand-by power that is wasted when other devices are not in use.
Roughing it takes on a new meaning with this handy device. The LED Dynamo from Green Goods Technology is a hand crank lamp that not only produces enough power to light your way, but also to charge your mobile devices.
