Big, bad box

After a wait that spanned the holiday season, Sony's Personal 3D Viewer has finally arrived in the office. Let's find out what's inside the box.

Having tried the Personal 3D Viewer on a few previous occasions, we were a bit surprised to find that it's housed in a pouffe-sized box.

An escapee from the future?

Sitting atop its cardboard throne is the star of the show: the HMZ-T1.

Pad it out

The unit ships with three types of padding for the forehead: thick, medium and thin. The medium pad is fitted as standard.

Lights out

Above the power cable are two rubber flaps that can be fitted to the bottom of the head unit to help block out light. In an unusual spurt of corporate largesse, Sony has included an HDMI cable with the 3D Viewer.

Unique

A proprietary cable wending and winding its way out of the head unit is responsible for handling both power and data.

Much front

The aforementioned cable plugs in to the front of the snappily titled processor unit.

Walk on by

At the back of the processor unit is a single HDMI input. The HDMI-out port allows the 3D Viewer to function as a pass-through device.
