Smart car iPhone app (photos)

At the 2010 Geneva auto show, Smart showed off a new cabin tech suite, based on the iPhone 3GS. The app handles navigation, music, phone calls, and roadside assistance, and is integrated with the car's audio system.

The Grey Style trim can be applied to both the turbo and hybrid versions of the Smart car in Europe. It includes a matte gray paint job with yellow accents, fog lights, and six-spoke alloy wheels.

The model shown at the Geneva auto show came equipped with a factory-installed iPhone cradle, an option costing approximately $338 (249 euros). This dock integrates the iPhone's audio with the car.

Smart designed this iPhone app for use in the car. Its main menu includes buttons for navigation, phone, music, and assistance. Although the phone function duplicates the iPhone's own phone application, the buttons are bigger, designed to be used while driving, and the audio plays through the Smart's stereo.

Smart built this giant-size iPhone to show off the app. It is fully functional, letting you use pinch gestures to zoom in and out. It demonstrates the navigation function, music, including the Web radio application, the phone system, and Smart assistance.
