Easy Gingerbread

If you're looking to ease your way into Android, U.S. Cellular's Samsung Repp is one way to do it, especially if you're bargain-hunting. The Android 2.3 Gingerbread handset is free after a $100 mail-in rebate, and with a new two-year service agreement.

Small stuff

It's a pretty tiny phone, however. The screen is just 3.2 inches, which is far less convenient for reading and tapping links than on a larger display.

Design

Samsung has dressed up the simple smartphone with some nice touches, including a nice berry color and some interest on the back cover. The 3-megapixel camera is about what you'd expect to see in a phone of this class. It took some nice outdoor photos, but struggled with indoor pictures and strong lighting.
