Though it looks more like the little claw used in the crane game, this is actually the Palm GPS Navigator Kit. Designed to work with the Palm Treo 680 and the Palm Treo 700p, the kit includes TomTom Navigator software and a cradle (pictured here) with an integrated GPS receiver so you can get turn-by-turn directions. It also acts as a hands-free system for phone calls.
You can check the status of your phone call and GPS strength with two indicators on the front of the cradle. The LED on the left will illuminate green when you're on a call and red when the call is muted. To mute the call, just press the little microphone icon. The LED on the right, under the signal graphic, lights up a solid blue when looking for satellites and then blinks blue when its found your position.
The cradle features an integrated speaker and microphone for hands-free calls and voice-guided directions. During our test drive, we had no problems hearing our callers or directions. In fact, this baby can crank out some serious volume.
In addition to the car cradle, you get a 1GB miniSD card preloaded with maps, a memory card reader, and an adhesive dashboard disk. Also included in the box but not pictured here is the TomTom Navigator 6 software CD and reference material.
