From a handset that can stream live TV to a thin music-playing cell phone, LG is pushing the multimedia envelope.
The LG VX9400 made a big splash earlier this year when Verizon announced V Cast TV. Capable of broadcasting real-time television, the VX9400 is able to receive calls and text messages while you're watching TV, plus there's a retractable TV antenna for enhanced TV reception. Other features include EV-DO support, a stylish swivel design, a music player, access to V Cast Music, a microSD card slot, a 1.3-megapixel camera with flash, stereo Bluetooth, a video recorder, a speakerphone, voice command support, a voice recorder, text and multimedia messaging, a mobile Web browser, e-mail, GPS, and more.
Available in marine blue, shimmering gold, and apple green, the LG AX8600 for Alltel is a sexy reimagining of the LG VX8600. The thin flip phone has many of the same features as the VX8600, such as a 1.3-megapixel camera and camcorder, a microSD card slot, EV-DO support, a music player for MP3 and AAC, a customizable equalizer, and stereo Bluetooth. It's available now for $99.99 from Alltel.
The LG 570 flip phone is the latest in a long line of music phones from LG. It has external touch sensitive controls, a one-touch access key to play MP3s, plus an integrated FM transmitter that lets you stream music to a car stereo or other FM receivers. Features include a music player, a microSD card slot, a full duplex speakerphone, a 1.3-megapixel camera and camcorder, text and multimedia messaging, and Bluetooth. It'll be available in spring 2007, though no carrier has yet been specified.
The LG VX8700 is a shiny new successor to the LG VX8600. Clad in stainless steel, the external screen has a reflective surface when the phone is inactive and can be used as a mirror. This slim and sexy phone with a 262,000-color display has some pretty impressive features as well. They include a 2.0-megapixel camera, a music player, a microSD card slot, a video recorder, a video player, stereo Bluetooth, text and multimedia messaging, a speakerphone, voice recording, a 1,000-contact address book, and EV-DO support. Verizon is slated to be the VX8700's exclusive carrier, which means it'll also have access to V Cast Video and V Cast Music. Available starting April 6 on Verizon's Web site, and starting April 17 in stores, the LG VX8700 will retail for $179.99 after a two-year service agreement and a $50 rebate.
