Photos: Best Bluetooth headsets
Bluetooth headsets let you chat on the phone with your hands free to do other things, like driving, working around the house, and so on. More recently, there has been an influx of stereo Bluetooth headsets, which can stream music wirelessly from a phone that has A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) support. Here are just a few of our favorite Bluetooth headsets, both mono and stereo.
The Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth headset is one of the best-looking headsets we've ever seen. Designed by Yves Behar, the Jawbone has military-grade noise shield technology approved by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), the U.S. Department of Defense's independent research branch. Despite its quirky buttons, it delivers superior sound quality with a comfortable fit.
The Jabra BT8040 is a compact yet powerful Bluetooth headset that offers plenty of features for its size. They include MultiPoint technology (the ability to connect to two different devices simultaneously), A2DP for streaming music wirelessly, plus an intelligent noise reduction and volume equalization technology that offers great sound quality.
The founder of SoundID is an otologist (ear specialist) from Stanford University, so it's no wonder that the SM100 by SoundID is one of the best-sounding headsets we've tried. Not only does it have noise reduction and voice enhancement, there's also an environment awareness mode so you can hear what's around you while still wearing the headset.
More and more cell phones these days come with built-in music players, and most of these music phones also have stereo Bluetooth, meaning it can stream that music wirelessly. The Cardo S-2 is one of our favorite stereo Bluetooth headsets due to its comfort, ease of use, and excellent sound quality. Of course, it can also handle answering and making calls due to the built-in mic.
Say you want a mono Bluetooth headset while driving, but you also want a stereo Bluetooth headset when running on the treadmill. Well the Plantronics Voyager 855 is the Bluetooth headset for you. This headset converts from mono to stereo simply by attaching a wired earbud. It has a sliding boom mic, great audio quality, and a very comfortable fit.
