BMW makes all manner of tech available in the new 7-series, putting it on par with the Mercedes-Benz S-class and new safety tech available in Volvos. It gets adaptive cruise control capable of bringing the car to a full stop, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, and a night vision camera.

Massage seats will be available in the 7-series, although BMW hasn't specified which seats. The audio system includes a hard drive for music storage, along with USB and iPod adapters. The driving characteristics can be set between four modes: Comfort, Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus.

One of the most welcome changes will be in iDrive, BMW's car system's interface. The iDrive controller is still present, but BMW radically reworked the software. Instead of the main menu, which divided everything up into four function areas, BMW goes to this more flexible menu system. BMW previously showed off an in-dash Web browser, expected to be available in this car.

BMW experienced great success with its twin turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, and it will apply the same technology to its 4.4-liter V-8. The twin turbocharged V-8 is currently found in the new X6. In the 750i this engine will deliver 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.

BMW incorporates cornering headlights on the 7-series and a feature that dims the high beams when it detects oncoming traffic. This detail picture also shows LEDs mounted in the headlight casing, most likely for parking lights, similar to what Audi and Cadillac are doing.
