Photos: 2008 Audi TT Coupe

The Audi TT has an upscale look and is a blast on twisty roads. It might seem impractical and pricey compared to other sports cars in the $50,000 range, but it is one of the best toys we can think of.

We previously tested the Roadster version of the TT, but were quite happy to drive the Coupe as well. These cars are incredibly fun to drive, although a bit pricey.

The Coupe version has a lighter structure than the Roadster, due to greater use of aluminum, but the overall weight of the Coupe is 40 pounds heavier.

Our TT had a 3.2-liter six cylinder engine, with 250 horsepower. It doesn't sound like a lot, but the car is fast. The TT can also be had with a turbocharged 2-liter four cylinder. The 3.2-liter version also comes with Quattro all-wheel-drive standard.

The 2008 model is a significant change over the 2007 model, and the roofline shows it. The car doesn't look quite as unique as the previous model.

The hatchback has a more gradual slope on the new TT, making it look a little more conventional than the previous year's model

There isn't much cargo room in the TT Coupe, although you can fold down the rear seats and gain some space.

The interior of the TT is luxuriously appointed, more so than most other sports cars.

Rear seat leg room is almost non-existent, making the back seats mostly for emergency use.

With its Quattro all-wheel-drive system, the TT holds the road extraordinarily well. Although the steering is a little light, it handles almost perfectly.

The DSG, double-clutch transmission on our test car made driving and performance substantially better than it would have been with the six speed manual. The DSG makes lightning fast shifts through its six gears.

Sirius satellite radio is available on the TT. We found its user interface fairly intuitive with the standard head unit.

The stereo makes navigation MP3 CDs easy, and offers this mix function.

Without navigation present, we weren't impressed by the iPod interface. It doesn't show track information.

The iPod dock is well-engineered, letting you slide the iPod onto the connection without the need for cables.
