We're going to be on site at the 2007 New York auto show this week, and before we even set foot inside the Javits Convention Center, we know that we're in for a slew of concept cars and new model launches. While there are plenty of surprises and unveilings still in store for the show itself, here is our roundup of cars for which we have preview images and advance information.
The C16 Cabrio is a topless version of Callaway's Corvette-based supercar. With a supercharged 6-liter engine, the C16 delivers a blistering 560 horsepower in its standard configuration; those who want more can option up the Performance Package, which delivers 616 horsepower and catapults the ragtop rocket to 60mph in 3.5 seconds.

One of the worst-kept secrets of this year's New York auto show, the svelte Infiniti G37 is the successor to the highly successful G35. As its name suggests, the 2008 G37 will feature a 3.7-liter V-6 engine making an estimated 330 horsepower mated to either a 6-speed manual- or 5-speed automatic transmission. Performance technology on the G37 includes Infiniti's four-wheel active steering system and a variable valve event and lift system (VVEL) system, which combines hydraulic-controlled variable valve timing and electronically controlled variable valve lift on the intake side to help improve performance and response.

The baby of the Hummer range gets an performance upgrade for the 2008 model year, in the form of a 5.3-liter V-8 engine. The resultant H3 Alpha will produce 295 horsepower and will have a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds.

Hyundai's 2007 Genesis concept--the herald to a 2008 production model--is proof that the Korean automaker has its sights set on the luxury Japanese competition. The rear-wheel-drive Genesis is motivated by a 4.6-liter V-8 engine mated to a 6-speed ZF automatic gearbox. Look out, Lexus.

Buick is bringing back its "Super" designation for a souped-up version of its Lucerne CXS luxury sedan. The 2008 Lucerne Super features a beefed-up version of the Northstar V-8 that we saw in our review of the CXS, endowing the car with a hearty 292 horsepower. To go with its enhanced performance, the superhero gets a nose job and some interior upgrades.

Having resurrected the Shelby GT500 this year, Ford plans to remake history with the launch of the KR (King of the Road) version for 2008. For those who aren't satisfied with the regular 500-horsepower GT500, the KR will deliver an extra 40 horses and an extra 35 foot-pounds of torque. The GT500KR will feature upgraded ignition timing and improved throttle response.

As well as its all-new 4.7-liter V-8 engine, the 2008 Grand Cherokee is available with couple of advanced interior tech features, including Chrysler's MyGIG hard-drive-based infotainment system, and Sirius Backseat TV, enabling the kids to watch cable TV channels while sitting in the rear seats.

Drawing design inspiration from Infiniti's curvy FX crossover, the EX concept is a close-to-production version of the 2008 Infiniti EX. The EX will feature two unique technology features: Its Around View Monitor uses front-, side-, and rear-mounted cameras to provide an all-round view when parking; while its Lane Departure Prevention system goes one better than the FX's Lane Departure Warning system by using the car's stability control system to prevent it from changing lanes inadvertently.

The 2008 SX4 follows in the tracks of its 2007 sibling as a bargain-basement, four-wheel drive compact. It features a a 143-horsepower 2.0-liter engine and will be on sale in the fall of 2007.

The brainchild of GM's South Korean design studios, the Chevy Trax is one of three minicar concepts that will be unveiled in New York. Following the show, the 1-liter, four-door Trax will be pitted against the two other subcompact concepts in an online poll, which will apparently help GM to decide what a production minicar should look like.
