Photos: 2007 Honda Element SC
The 2007 Honda Element SC doesn't have enough cabin gadgets to be considered a tech car, but it is very practical. It takes little skill to drive and it can hold a lot of gear.
The SC version of the Element is supposed to be more urban than the LX and EX models. The interior has a carpeted floor and the whole vehicle is a little lower.
The exterior of the Element is basically the same across all trim levels, with an ugly-duckling look suitable for people too cool to care.
The Element gets power from a 2.4-liter four cylinder, which is adequate to move it around town adroitly.
We like the high seating position of the Element, and the windows offer good all-around visibility.
The rear half doors aren't very convenient, as the front doors need to open to let people into the back seats.
The SC trim level is only available in two-wheel-drive, while the LX and EX can be had in all-wheel-drive.
With the SC trim level, the Element gets some distinctive possibilities for exterior paint, including this color, called Root Beer Metallic.
The rear of the Element opens up with clamshell gates, with the lower one serving as a loading surface.
The rear seats fold and strap up to the sides of the car.
The interior color scheme complements the exterior.
This multi-function steering wheel is standard, with buttons for audio and cruise control.
This shifter sits in a pod on the console, while the stereo uses fairly conventional controls.
The stereo comes prepped for XM satellite radio.
The disc player reads MP3 and WMA CDs, and displays track information.
A simple auxiliary audio input is included in the dashboard, suitable for plugging in an iPod.
