You don't see serious detail degradation across the G9's ISO sensitivity settings until you hit ISO 800. ISO 100 looked almost identical to ISO 200 and isn't shown here.

With its ability to focus as close as 0.4 inch--as long as you're zoomed out to the G9's widest angle--the camera works well for macro photography. (The foreground and background softness in this photo is from the shallow depth of field.)

There's less of the crunchy, digital feel to the photos with the G9 than with the G7--textures like this stone are more prone to display artifacts like that.

Areas like those highlighted by insets 1 and 2 are usually prone to purple fringing, and I was surprised to see none at all. The G9 tends to be more prone to cyan and magenta chromatic aberration, like the fringe you can see in inset 3.
