Oppo's midrange R7S looks and feels good, but could cost more than many are willing to pay.

The Oppo R7S is an expensive midrange phone that seems to borrow liberally from the Apple iPhone. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. In Singapore it's set to retail for S$599, which converts to $425, £280 or AU$585.

The R7S will hit Australia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand by November's end, and will be available online for Europe and the US in December through Oppo's online store.

Oppo's newest phone shares some notable design similarities to Apple's iPhone 6 range, such as the colours, the placement of the camera and speakers, and the volume and power buttons.

The 13-megapixel rear camera should be capable of taking quality shots, if the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus are any indication.

The volume buttons are located on the phone's right side.

At the bottom you'll find speaker grills and a micro-USB port. There's no Type-C USB port here.

The phone supports dual-SIM use, though if you don't need two SIM cards you'll be pleased to know that you can insert a microSD card into the extra SIM slot for expandable storage.

Unlike Apple's iPhone range, the R7S doesn't come with a fingerprint scanner.

The R7S is a midrange phone that may struggle to find ground against the cheaper, or better specced, devices from other Chinese manufacturers.
