DETROIT -- Combining the boxy proportions of the classic Datsun 510 with a healthy dose of futuristic stying is the Nissan IDx Freeflow concept. This coupe concept originally debuted at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show late last year, but we were happy to get a closer look in Detroit this week.
That engine would be mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to balance fuel economy and power. Normally, we'd run screaming at the first mention of CVT, but Nissan has proven that it can do variable ratios well enough.
Nismo enthusiasts have been chomping at the bit for the automaker to revive the Silvia/240SX coupe to do battle with the Toyobaru twins. However, after seeing the IDx Nismo concept, I'm thinking those enthusiasts should be looking, instead, for a 510 reboot. Where do I sign for my preorder?
