For something new and original and exciting, indie development is the best place to look. Here are the indie games from E3 worth keeping an eye on.

We Happy Few

Survival horror We Happy Few, (Xbox One, PC) from the developer of Contrast, takes place in a dystopian 1960s, where the horrible memories of WWII are suppressed using a drug called Joy.

VR is going to be incredible for experiences we can't actually have, like flying as a bird. In How We Soar (PSVR), you control a phoenix bringing to life a fictional world as you fly.

Absolver (PS4, Xbox One, PC) is an online multiplayer game that's all about melee fighting on your quest to become an Absolver, focusing on real-time attacks, dodges, feints and counters. It looks utterly breathtaking.

Vampyr

RPG Vampyr (PS4, Xbox One, PC) comes from the developer of Remember Me and Life is Strange, and puts you in the role of a doctor turned vampire torn between his Hippocratic oath and new vampiric bloodlust. Awesome.

If you're tired of all the same old video-games, stealth game Styx: Shards of Darkness (PS4, Xbox One, PC; sequel to 2014's Master of Shadows) tells the story of a wise-cracking, morally ambiguous goblin thief.
